A Little FanArt

I finally got around to making a couple of things. Though, the more I look at some of the "Castle" icons, the less I like them, so I think I'm just going to take some time a little later and redo a bunch of them. I'll probably go ahead and make some more icons for "Atlantis" as well. Might even do some "Robin Hood" if I can get some good screencaps. We'll see.

For now though, I do have a sig that I recently finished.

I took a couple of my old Atlantis favorites and decided to make a banner/sig for Carson/Weir, and this is what I came up with.

He's back!!

Oh my goodness what an episode! I was a little worried that the excitement that I had for the episode was going to be too much and I'd be let down, boy was I wrong. I absolutely adored the episode, and for more than just the fact that Carson was there in the end.

The whole thing was weaved together quite well, IMO. I love that the writers went back to the Hoffans. Talk about quintessential Carson! Though I wonder at the scavengers that were on the planet. They seem, right now, like an afterthought or an element that was just plunked in there for something to do. I wonder if more will come of them next week. It'll be interesting to see anyway.

Not to mention Todd and Michael. If ever I loved a wraith it'd be one of them.

The end was crazy. I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for them to finally get to Carson. In a way I kind of wish I hadn't know he would be there, it would've been even more spectacular if I'd been clueless about his return. There were definitely clues, for someone who didn't know, but it would've been crazy good without knowing about his grand re-entrance.  No harm done though. It was great to just see him back on the screen!

At the beginning I thought the episode was going to turn out to be kind of disjointed. It worked itself out though. It all worked together really well in the end, and they even got in a couple of good Rodney-needs-food jokes.

Next week looks great too! I can't wait!

Cheers!

You know, Carson only getting 5 episodes isn't such a bad hand.

I was torn between anger and happiness yesterday when I read that he was only come back for five episodes. The more I think about it though, the more I tend toward happiness. Other than the obvious plus that he's back, I think it's a real opportunity for tptb to give him something really gritty to deal with. Instead of trying to shove him into 8 or more episodes where he just might not fit, he's been given five episodes where hopefully he can be part of the forefront and really flourish.

We don't know what his situation really is yet, and we won't until Kindered airs. We can definitely speculate from what we know of spoilers, but nothing is really out there until those episodes air. Once they do, I think we might have a better idea how Carson will fit back into the scheme of Atlantis. He can't just take up his old position like nothing happened. There have to be some kind of repercussions of what's happened to him. I don't think it would be at all plausible, however much I might wish it, for him to just jump back into Atlantis as the CMO like nothing happened. There's got to be  some new way that he'll find his new niche in the city. Which may end up drastically changing the way he relates to the other characters.

I guess it really is just wait and see and withhold judgment until the 5 episodes have aired.

Maybe it's a bit of wishful thinking on my part, I don't know. But I really think that in the end the five episodes could end up being better for the character, especially if they are well written, character driven pieces, rather than just episodes that the character is stuffed into.

Cheers!

Dear Santa, regarding Atlantis ....

Just Atlantis
I noticed LJ was highlighting a "Dear Santa" journal in the spotlight section, and I thought it'd be fun to do a little Stargate style twist on that...

Dearest Santa,
I'm pretty sure I've been a good girl all throughout the year. Well, for the most part anyway, maybe. So if you could, that is, if you might find it acceptable to grant me what I ask I promise I'll try not to be too selfish with my requests.

A top my list, dear Santa, sits the wish for (or perhaps the hope of) the safe and bountiful return of many illuminating character moments on Atlantis. In an effort to curb my selfishness I wouldn't dare ask for the joyful coupling of my favourite ship (Ronon&Teyla, in case you were curious), but if you see fit to grant this tiny bit of selfish desire you will find no complaint from me. But, dear Santa, what I'd simply like to see  is any combination of characters revealing their feelings, going through struggles and just generally being affected by the consequences of their actions. Dear Santa, may actions have consequences and those consequences alter, change and shape the characters.

Following closely behind a top my list of desires, Santa, is to see more Teyla. Santa, sir, we've had this character for 3 and a half years now and the poor girl has been stuck to the wallpaper. Now in season 4 we've had a tiny taste of her strength and her courage but I'd really like some more. I'd like to scratch a little deeper and go beyond the surface.

This brings me to my next request, I don't think it's that such a stretch to ask for consistently good writing. You see, dear Santa, poor Doctor Weir, a proud and noble character, has suffered for a lack of this. Her character is spot-on, the acting is superb, but dear Santa, it saddens me to say that she too was often tacked up on the wall.  Until, they gave  us  "Lifeline," where her character was rich and full. However, this brilliance was short-lived as she was thrust beyond the show.  The brilliance of the character, and what she had become was chucked out in favor of a "Traveler," with originality factor nil.

Now, Santa, please don't get me wrong. All these rambling requests paint a dreary picture of a show I love. It's not really all that bad, there are some high points too. There's Jeannie Miller and her charming brother Mer. A relationship I'd love to see portrayed on screen again. There is also "Reunion," an interesting Ronon piece. I'd ask to have more like this, if it isn't all that selfish a request. Or maybe something like "The Seer." An episode that could have been completely overdone, but was simple and understated, a diamond in the rough. I'd like to see some more like this.

I fear perhaps my list is getting rather long, but bear with me for just one more request. Lastly, dearest Santa, I'd ask that the season ending return of my favourite Scottish doctor would  be more than just a passing fancy. That his return  in "The Kindered"  would mark the beginning of his complete return into season five.

Thank you for taking the time to hear me through to the end. So, those are my requests dear Santa. Do with them what you will.
